About

Created by Adam Stewart in 2009, International Drag Day was set up to give Drag Artists a well deserved chance to shine and be celebrated for everything they give to gay life and culture.

The day itself relies entirely on you, the people. Since the day is international it would not be feasible to create one big event, therefore IDD needs people to get together around the world to create events on local and even national levels, put on shows or just go out and celebrate drag. Without you this day cannot happen, it is about capturing the spirit of drag as well as celebrating it, so don’t hold back, be fabulous and in the words of Ru Paul, “You better work!”

The best way to find out what this day really is about and the inspiration behind it, is to read this interview with Adam Stewart on guidetogay.com – Check it out

Your Event

Check out the events section to see how others are taking part in the day. Remember if you are hosting an event then make sure you add it to the site here. Your event can be anything from a drag show to a workshop on the art of drag. It could be charity ball or a club night soiree. Make of it what you want. The day is yours to celebrate in whatever style you wish. The sky (and vast amounts of glitter) is the limit.
