Last year International Drag Day picked up some media attention from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and the UK

This was great and totally unexpected…

The coverage

We had Feast of Fun – the number one LGBT podcast online do a segment in their 16th July podcast as well as offering us their 11 in-depth drag queen interviews in aide of IDD.

Las Vegas got on-board last year thanks to the wonderful support of Where’s My Lesbian and The Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. They organised a huge show which raised money for charity. Fun and inspiring. Here is an interview with Karen Plowden from KNPR. They are doing it again this year.

Also from Australia guidetogay.com become our very first partner and helped the day spread around Oz. They covered a night at Sydney top gay club the Stonewall Hotel as well as branding on their website and an interview with International Drag Day founder Adam Stewart. They also covered the 2010 event at the same venue where they look to break the world record for the most drag queens in one photo. This had some coverage in Queerty.

Brazil got involved thanks to Hadassa McCarey, by staging a series of drag shows which the winners went through to the final to compete for Drag Superstar.

Finally in the UK there was a LGBT magazine published, called “Gladrag Magazine” Which feature a second interview and feature on International Drag Day. The event itself was also nominated for an award in the Midlands Zone Readers Awards, held in Birmingham in 2010.

As well as this there were many faceboookers, tweeters and bloggers wishing everyone “Happy International Drag Day!”
